Successful CCP Training in Peru

District Leader, Geovanna Chavez, loves her country. She shared her vision for Peru with the pastors and leaders gathered in early June in Lima: life–giving restoration through faith in Jesus, by multiplying healthy churches and developing godly leaders.
That was the motivation for thirty-six representatives from twelve Free Methodist Churches from three different regions of Peru to gather in Lima: to learn how to effectively plant churches and develop leaders using the Community Church Planting method.

Peru is a large country. Leaving from her home, it would take Geovanna over thirty hours by bus to arrive at the furthest church in the network. To be able to gather together for the two-day training event was a great effort on behalf of the Peruvian district, demonstrating great commitment to sacrifice time and treasure for the cause of Christ. Needless to say, happy, warm greetings and joyful reunions of friends who hadn’t seen each other for quite some time dominated day one, along with the more measured conversations of newly budding friendships.

Each day was spent in worship, prayer, training times, testimony moments, workshopping ideas among local church groups, and developing individualized work plans for the next year.
By day two, the enthusiasm was palpable, plans were made and presented and tweaked. Networks of communication had been renewed and established, and the group concluded with a season of thanksgiving around the communion table together, celebrating the One who sacrificed His all for us.

Many gave their time, talent and treasure to make this event a great success. Among them special mention belongs to David and Yeya Lopez (Missionaries to Peru from a restricted access country who hosted and planned much of the event), John Jairo Leal (PIC Coordinator – Latin America), a leader from a restricted access country in Latin America who came to help teach and mentor, and Quincy Free Methodist Church (who helped defray costs), among the many others who cooked, hosted, taught, lead worship and encouraged the church in Peru!
